MTBF Enhancement
of HFRA Avionics Stores
Indigenous development of MOD-KIT fro Russian Complex Engine Regulator (KRD-99B) of AL-31FP engine was the flagship fleet modification project of Indian Air Force for enhancing MTBF of this High Rate Failure Aggregate of Sukhoi-30 MKI Aircraft.
The indigenous development of indigenous MOD-KIT was successfull completed in year 2015 and first Russian KRD unit modified with 04 Types of indigenous modules (MOD KIT) was offered to IAF for extensive flight trials and it has flown 407 flying hours till Nov 17 without any failure/observation. Subsequently, additional 15 numbers of Russian KRD-99B units were modified with MOD KIT as a lead aggregate and were subjected to service exploitation, which had flow for more than 3000 flying hours in total without any failure/observation.
The entire fleet modification program was completed by us in record time of 15 months by supplying 728 sets of MOD-KIT for embodiment into Russian KRD-99B units to increase its MTBF and remove Russian KRD-99B from the list of "High Failure Rate Aggregate" HFRA of Sukhoi-30 MKI Aircraft.
Key Features of MOD KIT
1.Out of 12 electronic modules of Russian KRD-99B unit, MOD KIT replaces only 4 types of Russian Modules with indigenous substitutes.
2.Post modification, Russian KRD units are assured for MTBF > 1000 flying hours.
